Why the American Ice Dancing Teams Need to get Tough

February 22, 2010 · 9 comments

On Friday night, I was watching the American ice dancing teams get murdered by the Russians , who for some reason, have been mangling  every sport.  It’s like they want Putin to murder them when they get back.  Although, now they are in third place.  And, although they’ve been losing, they are scary, scary people and performed insanely well in the compulsory routine.  Specifically, Domnina-Shabalin scare the crap out of me with their ferocity (also, racism):

If you look at their fan site, it says that they eat a koala for breakfast every morning.  Starting with murdering it in cold blood.

But, since they are now in third place, I thought I’d inspire Oksana and Maxim to do better next time.

Take note, kids.

There’s no way the Americans can win when they are confronted with  this level of mental toughness:

Somehow I regret not watching the winter olympics. Is that you in the last pic?

Yup. When my parents wanted me to be an Olympian, at age 8. Unfortunately, I couldn’t do the jump and dropped out of lessons after a year, disillusioned.

I watched their routine last night. Borderline-offensive costumes or not, their dancey thing looked much more complicated than the Italians’ who went on before them. I mean, shoot, her skate blades on the dude’s thighs and chest? Scary indeed.

Do you follow Plushenko controversy ? Russians are mad; Americans are gloating;
I am trying to stay away from it – I don’t know who is right and who is wrong. It is just doesn’t seem right – was not it supposed to be about promoting piece and understanding ?

Plushenko deserved to lose. I saw both routines, and Lysacek’s free skate was much more involving and interesting in terms of the variety of elements. Plus Plushenko’s attitude is atrocious.

LOL that was HILARIOUS. I’m clearly an old lady, because I can’t stay awake long enough to watch the Olympics. And i’m on the West Coast. Pathetic.

They time it very poorly, I think because I never know when ANYTHING is on.
