Photoshop Thursday: Yemen!

December 17, 2009 · 1 comment

There’s something about Yemen that catches the eye and the mind.  Yemen is one of the few countries left that’s not completely tamed, taken over by the McDonalds and Carrefours of the world.  Sana’a, pictured here, is ancient and one of UNESCO’s heritage sites.  At the same time, Yemen is more dangerous than ever, with a border conflict with Saudi Arabia, almost nonexistent human rights, and a serious qat problem.

And yet, the more dangerous and far away a place seems, the more I want to pack my bags.  C.f. Kabul.  Yalla!

Yeah, can’t disagree on the dangerous point, but it is also one of the most beautiful places in the world. The Sana’a image you posted is a brilliant example of the architecture that makes that city so good.

Good to know that you are looking for a dangerous adventure of a travel, in that case Yemen becomes a good destination for you. Keep us posted on your tour.
