Oh, another news for you: There are 6 synagogues in the Jewish quarter alone.

Indeed one stupid Jew is a greater danger for its own community than a horde of antisemites.

Maybe, if you’d think about your trip before going (a few minutes on the internet would have worked well), you’d find out that there is a Jewish community, that you could have contacted and anybody would be very happy to explain you the things you obviously don’t understand and you’re just blaming everyone.

Overall, the whole “how does one become a Hindu” thing is something that I should probably post a blog or two on. I guess it’s similar in some ways to the relationship in Judaism between ethnicity & practicing the religion, except that Hinduism doesn’t really have central texts to help define what all Hindus “must” believe in order to call themselves Hindu. A large part of the faith is being involved in the culture and the extended family, rather than specific religious practices or beliefs…

I visited the same place in1992 and it was an absolutely different story.

Still, there are certainly ways to enjoy Prague that you may have missed. The city is still a magical place and it really isn’t so hard to avoid the tourists with a bit of planning. Of course it is no longer the prague of kafka, but that’s up to your imagination. Where is?

Some Hindu temples on the tourist track operate in a similarly crass manner, but most haven’t sold out, thankfully. A few even won’t let you in unless you’re Hindu, which doesn’t exactly follow the rules of the faith – but I do respect their desire to avoid being gawked at by tourists for money.
